Cycling in Millau

In 2019, we did self-supported touring for a little less than 2 months from mid-September through early November. Day 11 - Millau to Meyrueis This was a wonderful ride through stunning countryside. The Gorges de la Johte has marvelous scenery. All roads were great low-traffic roads, though of course there was some traffic on both D911 and D809, both of which were short sections. We highly recommend this ride.

This was a very sweet and nice route on pretty much all zero and low traffic roads. The heat, though, did us in. Although D809 looks like a major road, it parallels the major highway and has virtually no traffic. Highly recommend this route.

We had only a short way to go to our next lodging along wtih a terrible weather forecase for the afternoon. So, we did a short cirlcle to allow us a nice ride with less chance of being dumped on. In the end, we were lucky. D547 through Compeyre was a short climb with no traffic an very nice views. D809 is a long climb with a lttle good scenery. It climbs to the Col d'Engayresque at 888M. D809 was presumably a major road prior to the completion of the mostly parallel major highway leading south to the Millau Viaduct. Now, though, it's little used with almost no cars on it. D94 was an outstanding downhill going through forests on the way. Great descent. Highly recommend.

This was a beautiful ride, about two thirds of which was the reverse of our route from Albi to Millau in August. We left that route when we continued north on D25 from Broquiès. The long uphill from the river to Villefranche-de-Panat was slow, but it gave us some great views. All roads on this route were low and zero traffic roads. We highly recommend it.
