Cycling day trip from Pollença to Escorca

This route takes you from the charming town of Pollença, nestled in Mallorca’s north, up into the dramatic landscapes of Escorca in the heart of the Tramuntana mountains. Expect a challenging but rewarding ride: over 31 km, you’ll climb nearly 1,500 meters, winding through quiet country roads and occasional tracks, with more than half your ride on smooth pavement.

Leaving Pollença (famous for its Sunday market and the 365 Calvari Steps if you fancy a warm-up!), you’ll head west, surrounded by olive groves and rugged hills. The traffic is mostly light, but keep an eye out for the odd curve shared with cars. As you ascend towards Escorca, the scenery changes—pine woods, exposed rocky outcrops, and jaw-dropping views over gorges and valleys are your companions.

Escorca itself is tiny but spectacular, sitting near the entrance to the famous Sa Calobra and Lluc monastery. Bring plenty of water, snacks, and a sense of adventure—the climbs are hefty, but it’s pure cyclist heaven, and the vistas are absolutely worth every meter!
