Cycling day trip from Geneva to Annecy

This ride is a gem for anyone who loves rolling landscapes and a touch of cross-border adventure! Starting out in Geneva—famous for its beautiful lake and cosmopolitan vibe—you’ll cruise out of town and quickly find yourself cycling through quiet Swiss and French countryside. The route is about 64 km long, with a good mix of climbs (nearly 870 meters of ascent!) to keep things interesting, but nothing too extreme.

Most of the journey follows peaceful back roads and tracks, so you won’t have to worry much about traffic—perfect for soaking up those Jura foothills and distant views of the Alps. About a third of the ride is on smooth asphalt, but keep an eye out for some gravel and unpaved sections that add a bit of character to the route.

After a rewarding pedal through rural villages and past plenty of picturesque scenery, you’ll roll into Annecy. This lakeside French town is often called the “Venice of the Alps” thanks to its canals and stunning views. Treat yourself to a stroll along Lake Annecy or a coffee in the old town—you’ve earned it!
