By bicycle from Salzburg to Grödig

Looking for a scenic, leisurely ride from Salzburg down to Grödig? This 10.8 km route is perfect for stretching your legs and soaking in some alpine views! You'll start in Salzburg, famous as Mozart’s birthplace and the setting for The Sound of Music, and follow mostly paved, quiet roads southward. With just over 100 meters of ascent, the route is gently rolling—enough to keep things interesting, but not too demanding.

The ride takes you away from the historic city center, through leafy suburbs and peaceful countryside, with the Untersberg mountain looming in the distance. Most of the route is on quiet roads and dedicated cycle paths, with only a small stretch on busier roads or tricky surfaces. As you approach Grödig, you’ll get a classic Austrian village feel—a great spot to grab a coffee or even start a hike up the Untersberg.

All in all, it’s a lovely short spin suitable for most cyclists, with plenty of fresh air and an ever-present mountain backdrop!
