Cycling day trip from Neusiedl am See to Illmitz

Set off from the lively lakeside town of Neusiedl am See, well-known for its windsurfing scene and laid-back wine bars. You’ll roll south across the open plains that characterize this unique corner of Austria, following mostly smooth asphalt and quiet country tracks—the route is gentle, with just a hint of ascent and descent to keep things interesting.

The ride is almost entirely on peaceful rural roads and dedicated bike paths, giving you plenty of time to soak in views of vineyards and the vast reed beds surrounding Lake Neusiedl. There’s little traffic here—just the occasional tractor and plenty of birdlife.

As you approach Illmitz, you’ll notice how the landscape shifts toward the heart of the national park.
