Quick ride by bicycle from Simmerath to Monschau

This scenic cycling route takes you from Simmerath down to the picturesque town of Monschau over about 11 km — perfect for a laid-back morning ride! You’ll start off in Simmerath, a charming gateway to the Eifel National Park. The ride gently descends most of the way, making it beginner-friendly, with lovely rolling countryside views and about 73 meters of uphill mixed in.

You’ll cruise mostly on smooth, paved or asphalt roads (so your road bike will feel right at home) with very little traffic, thanks to a good mix of quiet roads and dedicated cycleways. The area is famous for its nature, but your real treat comes at the end in Monschau. With its half-timbered houses, winding cobblestone lanes, and the rushing Rur river, Monschau is like stepping back in time.
