Cycling day trip from Ochtrup to Münster

Roll out from Ochtrup, a quiet Münsterland town known for its designer outlet and textile roots, and head southeast on a mostly traffic-free mix of farm lanes and bike paths. It’s about 50.7 km of easy cruising through classic parkland scenery—fields, hedgerows, and little villages—with roughly 180 m of gentle up and down. Surfaces are overwhelmingly paved, with just a few short gravel bits.

Nice stopovers along the way include Metelen and Steinfurt (Burgsteinfurt’s moated castle makes a great photo break), then on via Laer and Altenberge toward the city.

Glide into Münster, Germany’s cycling capital: the leafy Promenade ring leads you toward the old town, the Prinzipalmarkt arcades, and St. Paulus-Dom. Expect masses of bikes, great cafés, and the Aasee for a victory lap by the water.
