Cycling day trip from Friedrichshafen to Überlingen

A classic Bodensee ride: roll out from Friedrichshafen, the “Zeppelin city” with its waterfront promenade and excellent Zeppelin Museum, and point your wheels west along the Bodensee-Radweg. The route hugs the lakeshore through Immenstaad and the wine village of Hagnau, where short, gentle climbs weave between vineyards before dropping into postcard-pretty Meersburg with its medieval castle.

From there, continue lakeside toward Unteruhldingen (peek at the UNESCO-listed Pfahlbauten stilt-house museum if you’ve time) and on to Überlingen. Expect mostly smooth, paved surfaces and a relaxed mix of bike paths and quiet roads—great for touring or a comfy day out. It’s about 32 km with roughly 160 m of ascent, so plan on 2–3 hours of easy pedaling plus stops for swims, views, and coffee.

Finish in Überlingen, a historic spa town known for its long lakeside promenade, the Gothic Münster St. Nikolaus, and terraced gardens. Grab a gelato by the harbor or unwind at the Bodensee-Therme. Lake, vines, and old towns—hard to beat.
