Quick ride by bicycle from Bonn to Bornheim

Spin out of Bonn—Beethoven’s hometown and former capital on the Rhine—on smooth, mostly paved paths heading northwest. The ride is an easy 13.8 km with just about 37 m of gentle climbing and a slight net descent, mostly on quiet paths and backroads, so it feels relaxed and safe.

You’ll roll through green belts and suburban edges before the landscape opens to fields and orchards near the Vorgebirge. Surfaces are overwhelmingly asphalt, with only tiny bits of paving stones. Expect a couple of short shared pedestrian sections—just ease off and ring politely.

Finish in Bornheim, tucked between Bonn and Cologne, known for its strawberry and asparagus farms (seasonal farm stands are a tasty bonus). Roisdorf, a Bornheim district, is famous for its mineral water springs.
