By bicycle from Komárno to Komárom

A relaxed riverside hop between twin cities on the Danube. Roll out from Komárno’s old town (check out the quirky Europe Place if you have time) and follow the embankment cycleway west, skirting the bastions of the sprawling Komárno/Komárom fortress system—one of the largest of its kind in Central Europe.

Cross the Monostori Bridge (opened 2020, with wide bike lanes) for big river views, then cruise east on the Hungarian side into Komárom. Detours worth a few extra minutes: Fort Monostor or a soak at Brigetio Thermal Bath.

It’s about 9.3 km, mostly flat with just ~35 m of gentle up and down. Surfaces are largely asphalt and other smooth paving, and the route strings together cycle paths and quiet streets, keeping you away from busy traffic.

Tip: You’re crossing from Slovakia to Hungary—both are in Schengen, so border checks are rare, but carry an ID. Perfect little ride for history, river scenery, and a coffee at either end.
