Cycling day trip from Levico Terme to Bassano del Grappa

Roll out from Levico Terme, the lakeside spa town famed for its thermal waters and Habsburg park, and ease onto the Valsugana route along the Brenta River. It’s mostly paved and pleasantly quiet, mixing cycleway with low-traffic roads—ideal for settling into a rhythm. The ride trends downhill as you leave Trentino for Veneto, but expect a few punchy ramps and rollers through villages and river gorges to keep the legs honest.

Fuel up in Borgo Valsugana (great coffee and castle views) and enjoy long, flowing stretches beside orchards and vineyards as the valley opens up. Keep an eye out for river bridges and old military works that hint at the area’s WWI history.

You’ll finish in Bassano del Grappa, home of the iconic wooden Ponte degli Alpini—rebuilt to Palladio’s design—and plenty of distilleries pouring the town’s namesake spirit. Grab a gelato, stroll the bridge, and toast a classic Alpine-to-plains ride: about 84 km, mostly smooth tarmac with a few livelier sections and a rewarding net descent.
