Bikepacking from Donji grad to Ljubljana

This epic cycling journey starts in Donji grad, the vibrant heart of Zagreb. You’ll pedal through a fantastic mix of city streets, scenic countryside, and rolling hills, weaving your way out of Croatia and into Slovenia. Most of your ride unfolds on quiet roads—a treat for soaking in the landscapes. Expect a solid workout: you’ll tackle some serious climbs and descents as you wind towards the foothills of Slovenia, reaching up to 585 meters above sea level at the trip’s highest point.

About 61% of the ride is lovely smooth pavement, with a bit of gravel and unpaved segments thrown in for adventure. After close to 186 kilometers in the saddle, you’ll roll into Ljubljana—Slovenia’s green, bike-friendly capital. Take a victory lap by the emerald Ljubljanica River and toast your ride beneath the castle hill.
