Bikepacking from Sebeş to Novaci

Ready for a wild ride? This route takes you from the historic town of Sebeş, famous for its medieval Saxon fortifications and beautiful main square, all the way to Novaci, a gateway to the Parâng Mountains and the stunning Transalpina Road.

You’ll cover just over 164 km, with more than 6,700 meters of climbing—so bring your climbing legs! The route winds through the spectacular scenery of Southern Romania, peaking at a breathtaking 2,119 meters. It’s a mixed-surface adventure: just over half is missing data, but expect a real medley with stretches of gravel, unpaved roads, and some reliable asphalt thrown in. Most of your ride will be on tracks and quiet roads, keeping you away from heavy traffic and right in nature’s lap.

Once in Novaci, don’t miss the traditional wooden houses and consider extending your adventure onto the famed Transalpina for even more jaw-dropping views. This route is no walk in the park, but if you’re up for a challenge and love remote mountain rides, it’ll be an unforgettable journey!
