Cycling day trip from Săcele to Predeal

This cycling route takes you from Săcele, a historic Transylvanian town known for its Saxon heritage and gateway-to-the-mountains vibe, all the way to the alpine resort of Predeal. It’s about 27 km, but with over 1,200 meters of ascent, you’ll definitely feel those Carpathians!

You'll start on a patchwork of surfaces—half of it is missing or unpaved, so prepare for a mixed ride of gravel, ground, and some nice stretches of quiet roads and paved paths. Don’t forget your mountain bike—those gravel sections mean business! Most of your ride will follow tracks winding through the stunning forests, with peaceful patches and some true climbs that’ll get your heart pumping.

Predeal welcomes you at nearly 1,500 meters elevation. It’s Romania’s highest town and a top ski (and now cycling!) destination, known for its crisp air and panoramic mountain views.
