Cycling day trip from Canary Wharf to Blackheath

This ride takes you from the futuristic skyline of Canary Wharf down to the leafy open spaces of Blackheath. Starting among gleaming glass towers and bustling finance, you’ll head south, mostly on well-paved cycleways and quiet roads—there’s surprisingly little time spent on busy streets.

Expect a few gentle climbs here and there (with just over 120 meters of ascent in total), but nothing too tough. The route clocks in at a little over 21 km, so give yourself a couple of hours to cruise, especially if you want to stop for coffee on the way.

As you arrive in Blackheath, you’ll swap city vibes for green views—this area is famous for its wide heathland (and the starting line for the London Marathon), not to mention cozy pubs if you fancy an end-of-ride reward.
