Cycling day trip from Taoyuan to Banqiao District

Ready for a chill ride from Taoyuan to Banqiao? This roughly 45 km route is a great way to experience northern Taiwan outside of the MRT crowds. Starting in Taoyuan—famous for its international airport and juicy bubble tea—the ride mainly follows bike-friendly cycleways (about 60%) and quiet roads, making it relaxing even for less experienced cyclists.

The terrain is gentle: you’ll climb just under 190 meters, with a little more descending as you roll northward. Expect most of the ride to be paved or asphalt, though about 70% is marked as “missing surface,” so keep an eye out for the occasional rougher patch, but nothing too gnarly. There are no busy roads or pedestrian zones, so you’ll have lots of space to cruise and enjoy the scenery.
