Vor Whitianga gibt es eine kurze Fährüberfahrt; falls schweres Gepäck am Fahrrad ist, sollte dieses abgenommen werden, da das Fahrrad auf das Dach des Boots gehoben werden muss. Eine Alternative für die Strecke zwischen Whitianga und Coromandel ist die geschotterte 309 Road. Gute Orte für die Übernachtung unterwegs sind Hahei, Whitianga und Coromandel.
