Orbetello-Argentario-Porto Ercole-Orbetello

MTB route counterclockwise.

Start from Orbetello Scalo, follow the bike path along the lagoon to Terrarossa, where you head towards Porto S. Stefano. At around km 11.5, turn left onto the dirt road ascending to Poggio Pozzarello, where the distinctive Forte del Pozzarello stands. Then go back slightly, then descend to Porto Santo Stefano. Ascend strongly on Via Spacca Bellezze (start on asphalt, then dirt) for about 10 km, followed by ups and downs, always on dirt, for 15 km until Forte Stella. Now a tough climb on asphalt (Via Annunziata) for about 4 km, then dirt descent to the Convento dei Passionisti. Another dirt descent on Via Acquedotto Leopoldino, then a turn onto another dirt road to Porto Ercole. Climb to Forte Filippo, descend again and reach the lagoon and Orbetello station once more. If lucky, stopping at the end of the bridge crossing the lagoon, you can admire one of the most beautiful sunsets on the coast with the ancient Spanish mill silhouetted in the waters.
