Caneva Barcis Piancavallo

Sporting demanding route. The approach to Motereale Valcellina is slightly ascending, with short steep ramps. After Barcis there are two options. The main road with the illuminated 4 km long tunnel or the side road with some unlit tunnels. The side road was blocked due to construction, so the only way left was through the tunnel. At Barcis, the road turns towards Piancavallo. From here the climb begins up to 15%. The road leads through a dense broadleaf forest, making the summer heat bearable. In between, there is a short recovery section, then it continues flatter. After Piancavallo, the way was planned to continue over the mountain ridge back to the starting point. From this road, there is a wonderful view of the plain to the sea. At kilometer 60, the road then turned into a gravel path. Here we turned around and went back to Piancavallo. From Piancavallo, the main road descends. The road is well-built and the maximum speed allowed is 40. I set it up so that I am never below 40. The ramps drop by up to 20%, reaching around 80 km/h. Back on the main road, I head quickly towards the starting point.
