Rund um die Osterseen

The starting point is the small village of St. Heinrich by Lake Starnberger See. The village has enough good parking options and is also conveniently located near the A95 motorway.

We start towards Seeshaupt, always along the lake. At the entrance of Seeshaupt, we turn left towards Schechen. Just before the small hamlet, we turn left again towards the north.

After about 1 km, we leave the paved road to the right and continue now on gravel forest paths. Along a small stream, we gradually ascend. After about 7 km, we quickly cross the motorway bridge and continue on the forest paths towards Faistenberg. Here we reach the highest point of the route at 663 meters above sea level.

The Otthof is located on our tour right at the entrance of the Faistenberg property and is a nice place to stop.

After a little refreshment, we continue a bit more technically. On unpaved paths, we traverse fields and meadows heading south until Promberg. In Promberg, we turn right and now ride again on paved roads towards the Eitzenberger ponds. We reach these after about 12 km.

After 15 km, we arrive at the village of Iffeldorf. There, our route continues for about 200 meters along the federal road in the direction of Seeshaupt. After crossing the railway tracks, we head directly to the Heuwinkel chapel. From there, we proceed on paved forest roads towards Antdorf. We reach Antdorf after about 20 km.

Continuing north towards Iffeldorf. Iffeldorf lies on the edge of the Osterseen and provides the perfect entry point for a circumnavigation of the lakes. Passing by Schiffhüttensee and Sengsee, we continue on forest paths towards Fohnsee. To our right lie Forchensee, Bräuhaussee, and Eishaussee.

After about 26 km, just before Staltach, we turn left towards the southwest. To the left now lies the Große Ostersee. Passing the old peat factory, we continue towards Seeshaupt.

After 29 km, we sharply turn left and continue in the direction of Unterlauterbach. Shortly after Unterlauterbach, we continue to the right towards Frechensee in the direction of Seeshaupt. After about 34 km, we reach Ulrichsau, the southern edge of Seeshaupt. Here, we continue along the federal road towards the village center. After crossing the railway line again, we turn left towards the station and after about 100 meters just after the bus stop, turn right into Pettenkofer Allee.

At the end of the avenue, we turn right onto the main road of Seeshaupt. We stay on this road for the next 3 km to the Seeshaupt campground, which is located at the edge of Seeshaupt. Here we also return to the starting point of the tour. The remaining 2.5 km now takes us back via familiar roads to St. Heinrich.
