Nijmegen, not only the oldest city in the Netherlands but also one of the most beautiful cycling cities in the country! In the city, you will find interesting sights, such as the Stevenskerk with its tower. You can climb the church tower for a fantastic view over Nijmegen. Or, to stay on theme, take a look at the National Bicycle Museum Velorama. Food lovers definitely shouldn’t miss the Stadsbrouwerij De Hemel! In this 'living' museum, not only is craft beer brewed, but it is also processed into vinegar, mustard, whisky, liqueur, and genever.Nijmegen is wonderful to discover by bike, but you’ll enjoy it just as much when cycling through the surrounding villages. The village Berg en Dal has a fitting name. Here you climb wooded hills that offer you beautiful views over the green valley and the mountainous surroundings of Germany. Beware: some climbs can be quite challenging!The river Waal and a small stretch of the Rhine pass by. You cycle along the fantastic Ooijpolder and Millingerwaard, the gems of the De Gelderse Poort nature area. During your bike ride, you might see the great reed warbler or black tern flying past. But you might also encounter larger animals: maybe the path will be blocked along the way by Przewalski horses, Konik ponies, or Galloway cattle.
