The teachings of the Ancients, if not perpetuated, risk being forgotten. It is not so obvious that they will be preserved in our memories. In my time, the Renaissance spirit proposed just this: the recovery of the classical past and its re-adaptation to everyday life. I took only the best from the past, of course, and always relied on unity and organism, so that these principles would form the basis for buildings designed for peace, and only for peace, in an era where it was routine even to commit murder between family and family, from city to city... In this landscape, another witness came to support my words; a villa that I built here, near Vivaro, which was supposed to highlight the splendor and power of the noble Da Porto family. What I designed would dominate the surrounding countryside of Dueville, rising on a green meadow, with its dominical body. From its elegant Ionic portico, what sublime sunsets would its owners have admired over the years, decades, centuries...
