About this route

0

The Springendal in the municipality of Tubbergen is an erosion valley in the moraine of Ootmarsum (from the Saalian period), a nature reserve managed by Staatsbosbeheer. The area is known for its springs, beautiful streams, hills, and burial mounds. In this nature area, spring water emerges at three locations, recognizable by the small forest ponds. The Laagsestraat, the main thoroughfare of the town, runs through Ootmarsum. Old Ootmarsum is known for klootschieten, a game practiced in the region. The village has the largest klootschieten club in the country and its own track for the sport. You also cycle through the village of Rossum. The inhabitants of this village carry the nickname Gortekeurne, which means barley grains. Rossum has a very active carnival club. Every year there is a carnival parade and a gala event.
