Szarvas - Mezőberény

Starting from Szarvas, there is a bicycle path of variable quality leading until beyond Kondoros (about 5 km). After that, you can proceed on the main road 44 until the Békés junction. This isn’t a risk-free venture, rather it’s recommended only on weekends. The road towards Kamut is quite deserted, allowing for slalom through the many potholes, at times I even found myself in the oncoming lane. At Kamut, just after the roundabout, there was road construction going on for half a road, I suppose the result will be satisfactory. In Mezőberény, there’s a somewhat hard-to-follow yet not too bad bike path that goes through the town. With a few twists and turns, I reached the infamous old Berényi road. I've already described the section from Szarvas, now I was curious about the distance from Mezőberény to Hunya. The same sign awaited me as I had seen in several places along the road: "This section of road is particularly difficult to navigate due to its quality". They don’t exaggerate, but this section is better than the one from Szarvas. Arriving from Örménykút, we again reach the bike path back to the starting point when taking the main road 44. A road bike is not a good choice on the remaining part of the Berényi road!
