Wildness on the La Isleta peninsula / Almost still in the city and already another world: Just north of Las Palmas await skeletal rock formations in the surf, white sandy areas, and cliffs perforated with caves. Why Las Palmas is called the "city of two seas" becomes clear at the highest point of the tour: To the left lies the harbor bay with cranes and anchoring ocean giants, in the middle a densely built isthmus, and to the right the wide beach bay of Las Canteras. La Isleta, "the island on the island", is not developed for tourism – the military stationed on its north and east sides has so far prevented this.
