Overview
About this route
The route starts at the Białowieża Enclave. We follow the red Nordic walking trail for 1.5 km, then turn right and proceed for about 1 km on the green Nordic walking trail 'Near Krynoczka', which connects with the Green Velo trail. After traveling about 1.5 km, we can turn right to Krynoczka (an orthodox church from 1846 along with a holy spring). After visiting Krynoczka, we return to the main route and ride straight on the Hajnówka way. After about 1.5 km on the left side is an old gravel pit along with a boulder, which is a natural monument. We then return to the route and go straight until we reach the intersection with the Zwierzyniec way. We turn left and proceed on the blue bike trail (Biodiversity Trail). After about 6 km we reach an intersection and turn left onto the red Partisan Trail. At this intersection, there is also an information board describing the Szczekotowo reserve, where you can find the largest burial mound site in the forest (131 sites). After about 2.5 km, the red trail turns left, while we continue straight on fire road no. 42. We reach an intersection near a large clearing. At this point, we suggest going straight on fire road no. 42 to visit one of the largest oaks in the Białowieża Forest, known as the 'Oak Imperator'. After driving about 200 meters, the road turns right. After traveling about 500 meters, we pass a large gravel pit and arrive at an intersection where trees grow in the middle. At this intersection, we turn left and go straight until we see the sign 'Oak Imperator'. Bicycles should be left about 100 meters from the sign, as we will have to walk around fallen trees. In the summer months, this section may be overgrown with nettles, so we recommend wearing long pants. There is no designated trail to the 'Oak Imperator', so it is advisable to follow the GPS. Then we return by the same way to the intersection by the large clearing and turn right to return to the main route. The entire detour to the 'Oak Imperator' back and forth is 3 km. If we do not want to visit the 'Oak Imperator', we turn left. After traveling about 1 km, we reach an intersection, at which the markings of the red trail 'Partisan Trails' can be seen. At this point, we recommend turning left to visit the Szczekotowo reserve. This detour from the route is 4.5 km round trip, but it is worth going there. We continue straight until we reach the river Łutownia. The red 'Partisan Trail' continues straight, while we, behind the river, turn right and take the road to the clearing. Along this entire stretch on the left side we can observe burial mounds. At the clearing, we find a two-story gazebo with tables and a campfire area where we can rest. We return the same way and after traveling about 2.2 km we turn left at the intersection according to the red 'Partisan Trails'. We are already on the main route. If we do not want to turn left to visit the Szczekotowo reserve at the intersection, we go straight according to the red 'Partisan Trails'. The red trail will turn right while we go straight on the gravel road. After traveling about 500 meters, before the clearing with newly planted trees on the right side we will see a large linden tree from the 18th century. After crossing the narrow-gauge railway tracks on the left side we will see the campfire area 'Postołowo' where we can rest. Less than a kilometer before the village of Postołowo, we will pass an old gravel pit on the left side. We arrive at the start of the village of Postołowo and turn left at the intersection. After traveling about 2 km we reach the village of Lipiny. At the intersection, we keep going straight on the gravel road. After traveling a little over 2 km we reach the intersection on Celna Street in Hajnówka. We return by the same green Nordic walking trail, and at the trail intersection we turn left onto the red Nordic walking trail with which we started our journey. We finish the route at the Białowieża Enclave.
