8 day round trip of northern Sardinia on hybrid-bikes, July 2011.
Starting point in Alghero. Large petro-chemical plants west of Porto Torres made this area unexciting. The west-east directional winds is possibly to be counted on and did ease the ride up to Castelsardo. In the 3rd stage there was to much traffic on the coastal roads in the north-western corner - in particular along Coste Smeralda. Also road No.125 in and out of Olbia should have been avoided as it felt like biking on the highway. South of Olbia we went inland and the first two stages was though, especially the climb up from Burgos, however rewarding us with awesome views of the flat plains beneath. Cycling on the mainroads No.129 and -129bis between Bolotana and Bosa is also to best avoided due to traffic. The final stage from Bosa and back to our starting point in Alghero was much harder than expected, however with little traffic and some exellent panoramic views of the roughed coastline reminding us of Cosica biked last year.
Hotel after 6th stage (79,5km)
Camping after 1st stage (74km)
Camping af 3rd stage (55km)
