Rockhal - boucle de 80 km - via Pétange, Mamer, Hesperange

80-kilometer route with very few cars as it is almost entirely on cycle paths.

Update from 07/10/2022:

• Hesperange: go through the park rather than the road
• Passage through the Grund (safer)

Few steep climbs, very fast on some sections, sheltered over very large stretches.

Start Rockhal

1. Direction Pétange via the cycle paths.

It climbs a bit at the start but doesn’t last long. It follows along the tracks and there are some junctions to cross to continue on the path.

The Niederkorn traffic light requires a bit of patience.

2. Pétange - Garnich

Beautiful cycle path that is a former railway line. Some old stations to see and sheltered stops along the way.

Then you cycle 200-300 metres on the road to join the cycle path.

3. Garnich - Mamer

Nice cycle path through fields. Easy and fast.

4. Mamer - Grund

A bit of town but no busy roads as this is a cycle route. Offers the chance to see different neighborhoods safely.

5. Grund - Hesperange

Magnificent path along the Alzette, almost flat all the way, then you arrive directly in Hesperange park which has a bike washing station and a tap to fill bottles. Perfect for a break.

5. Hesperange - Noertzange

Almost entirely on path, only the Bettembourg passage requires caution twice:

• going uphill along the road there are several parking exit intersections

• passing through the housing estate: there is a chicane at the bottom of the descent connecting to the cycle path

6. Noertzange - Belval

Mainly follow path 6 which returns to Belval. Beware of the Schifflange roundabout:

• people drive fast

• you must get onto the pavement, move slightly right and then go down immediately.
