About this route

Very nice route which starts at the rail crossing in Comblain au Pont (pont du soay). We found the road blocked by a landslide 5km from the start but bikes can be dragged/carried through here. The route to Trois Ponts is on the road with one long climb up to Stoumont. Note that road users in this area take no notice of bikers, passing you close and fast. Most of the time the roads have no border let alone any bike paths. This is particularly true on the hill to Stoumont. At Trois Ponts the trick is to find the start of the Vennbahn rail track. On the right just after entering the village is a large garage and opposite is the road route to trois pont passing under two rail bridges. The second one carries the disused rail track and it is accessed on the right just after passing under the bridge. It is signposted by a brown RAVEL sign. After that it is a gentle gradient uphill all the way to Waimes passing Stavelot and Malmedy en route. There is a supermarket at Aywaille if you need to stock up on anything and a hostelry/cafe at the top of the climb to Stoumont.
