The hike 'The Juniper Forest in the Teufelsheide' starts at the 'Wacholderwald' parking lot. From here, there is the option to choose between a short, medium, and long tour, marked by colored circles. The hike initially leads to the northernmost tip of the Südheide Nature Park through the Dübelsheide and the Schlichtenheide near Schmarbeck. Here, larger heath areas lie within a rolling landscape, offering expansive views over the Südheide. The dense juniper stands at the edge of the heath are considered the most beautiful and largest juniper forest in Lower Saxony. A herd of Heidschnucke sheep regularly moves across the heath. Additionally, forests, meadows, and fields can be explored. Schmarbeck and Niederohe boast authentic heath farms with old farm trees.
