Arber-Radmarathon 2011 Kleine Bayerwaldrunde

The new route of the VCR Arber Radmarathon, first ridden on July 31, 2011. Due to construction work, the course was rerouted from Wörth an der Donau via Oberachdorf and Kiefenholz to Kruckenberg. From Hötzelsdorf, it is again identical to the (old) Bayerwaldrunde.

Personally, I prefer this new route to the (old) Bayerwaldrunde, although it does not correspond to the originally announced route. The latter would have turned south just before Heilbrunn and would have led through Kragenroth, Grand, and Hirschberg directly to Falkenfels, thus omitting the notorious hill between Ascha and Falkenfels. Unfortunately, the little road between Kragenroth and Hirschberg only has a poor gravel surface for about 1.5 km and is therefore unsuitable for racing bikes. It's really a shame, because the panorama from Grand is truly grand.
