Çeşme'nin en çok ziyaret edilen tarihi eseri II. Beyazıt'ın yaptırdığı kale bugün müze olarak kullanılmaktadır. Çeşme kalesi ise, 1508 yılında Osmanlı Padişahı II. Beyazıt tarafından, Aydın Valisi Mir Haydar aracılığıyla, Mimar Ahmet oğlu Mehmet'e yaptırılmıştır. Kalenin ilk inşaatı tam deniz kıyısına yapılmıştır. Ancak, sonraki yıllarda denizin doldurulması sonucu bugünkü konumunu almıştır.
