- Wednesday, August 20, 2008 - <br />Off program: Tour of the Stockholm Archipelago<br />Beautiful and warm weather<br />It has been only one day since the end of our raid and we already feel like cycling again.<br />Flavio has prepared a circular route for us through five islands of the great archipelago east of Stockholm.<br />So around 9:00, we set off from Lidingo southwards, crossing the city center and then on bike paths until we take the Varmdovagen which towards the east, after passing Gustavsberg, will take us to the island of Varmdo.<br />We will follow the same Varmdovagen (state road 274) to the north, passing Torsby, Angsvik and Siggesta Gard until we reach the port of Stenslatten where we take the ferry to the island of Rindo.<br />We resume the 274 which, for a distance of 6.5 km, crosses the island and we find ourselves at the second ferry to the beautiful island of Vaxholm with its charming town overlooking the Baltic.<br />Here in Vaxholm we stop to eat. The sun is beating down and it is 25 degrees when we set off again on the Stockholmsvagen (still 274), which we leave shortly after turning left after the bridge to Bogesund. A secondary road between forests and lakes leads us to the beautiful Bogesund Castle before rejoining the usual state road 274. After crossing the bridge over the E18 highway, we head south and on bike paths crossing Taby and Danderyd we find the signs for Stockholm and Lidingo which we will reach in the late afternoon..
