Un p’tit bout de Meuse
A cycling route starting in Villers-lès-Nancy, Grand Est, France.
Overview
About this route
From Nancy, climb to Clairlieu and descend to Maron. Turn right after the bridge over the Moselle and follow the cycle path to the lock, then continue left to Pierre-la-Treiche. Cross the village, turn left at the next junction and follow the D904 to Bicqueley.
Turn right and follow the road to Gye, then continue to Blénod-lès-Toul. Take the D960, cross the village and climb a few kilometers before turning left (D114) towards Uruffe. Turn right (D4, then D74) towards Chalaines / Vaucouleurs.
Just before Vaucouleurs, turn right (D144) towards Rigny-la-Salle, then continue towards St-Germain-sur-Meuse. (You can also pass through Vaucouleurs which has some interesting buildings, then join St. Germain.)
From St. Germain, follow the small D144 towards Void-Vacon, cross the Meuse. At Void follow the D964 (warning, main road through the village) and pass under the N4 then follow the road towards Vertuzey. Continue to Aulnois-sous-Vertuzey then Corniéville, where you turn right (D908). After a few kilometers you pass Rangéval with its former abbey, secularized after the French Revolution.
Continue to Boucq then follow the D10 to Ménil-la-Tour. Cross the D904 (watch out for cars) and continue to Sanzey then Andilly (German military cemetery) and Francheville. In the village turn left and join the D611 which you leave a few hundred meters later to Villey-St-Étienne. From there you can follow the Moselle loop cycle path.
Instead, we turn right (D191) and cross the Moselle a few kilometers later. Return to Clairlieu and Nancy via Fontenoy-sur-Moselle, Velaine-en-Haye then the forest road (paved but in poor condition) crossing the Forest of Haye.
