Auf der Klosterroute – geschichtsträchtig über die Geest

A lot of cultural history can be found along the Monastery Mile in Harsefeld, where counts resided over 1000 years ago and a Benedictine monk monastery made the place a spiritual center of power. Hilly Geest landscape, the idyllic Auetal valley and a large historic forest, once a Bannwald (protected forest) of the monks, complete the circular ride on the Monastery Route.

• Harsefeld Museum, former monastery of Harsefeld, and St. Marien and Bartholomäikirche churches

• Regional food culture: Jithofer cheese dairy in Bargstedt (farm shop Fri. and Sat., cheese dairy tours by appointment)
• Dörp’s Museum Brest and Museum Barn Reith (by appointment)
• Napoleon stone on the old military, trade and pilgrimage route
• A forest from the Middle Ages: the Braken (nature reserve, once Bannwald of the Benedictine monks)
