Day 10 Wednesday 13.07.2011!!!

This was supposed to be the last difficult mountainous stage of my trip. It was tough and exhausting, one could say hardcore. Like in a good horror, the tension rose (fatigue too) with every hour and the finish was like Hitchcock.

The start was light, easy and pleasant up to Krzeszów. On site, I visited an impressive, even very large, basilica. After viewing and taking a few photos, I set off towards Kamienna Góra. Further on the way to Kowary, there was a tough climb and, as usual, a brilliant descent. But the hardest was the next climb from Piechowice to Szklarska Poręba Dolna. Short but slope + heat = massacre!!! When I arrived, I drank two mineral waters at the local shop. During part of the climb, a local cyclist accompanied me. He envied me a little for the trip and I envied him for riding without something like my Maidan. Then I did another climb heading to Świeradów. On the way, the famous “death curve”. After Świeradów, I turned towards Nowe Miasto and for the last time entered the southern neighbors. Unfortunately, the heat was very intense throughout the stage and probably reached its peak in the Czech Republic. Traffic was also very heavy. Tired, I noticed a signpost to a campsite. On site it turned out that the owner was a Dutchman who set prohibitive prices for me. Had I been luckier (but it was the 13th), the next day would have been free as part of a promotion. However, had I known how this day would end, despite the high fees, I certainly would have stayed. Oh well, silly Jarek learns from mistakes ;) I entered Bogatynia, then Turoszów. Roads under repair, huge traffic and no place to stay. After leaving the main road, I ended up in Wyszków, which according to locals is not flooded. This is another musical reminiscence. By the shop, conversations and one golden thought: 'if you sit at home, you will not see anything truly beautiful.' Locals finishing the day with a beer explained to me how to ride. Unfortunately, I got lost and as evening approached and it began to drizzle, I camped on a spoil heap formed by a lignite mine. This was probably the strangest camping spot during the expedition. To lift my spirits, I prepared jelly in the tent because it started to rain heavily. And at night, there was a real storm with wind and lightning! Fortunately (in these misfortunes) the tent held up.
