Na obeh straneh Mure

All passionate cyclists should definitely indulge in a slightly longer bike ride that will stretch your body. Opt for a pleasant flat route along both banks of the Mura, with intermediate stops to admire natural and cultural sights. An experienced cyclist might still be overwhelmed by the flatness and may decide to extend their cycling adventure at one of the intersections.

Route description: The route will begin in Veržej with a pleasant ride in the shade over the Mura to Dokležovje. From there, it follows a bike path through Bratonce and Rakičan to the lively Murska Sobota. Here you can stop and visit the Regional Museum to see the permanent exhibition on the cultural heritage of the Pomurje region. Continue through Martjance, where you can turn left towards Sebeborec and Andrejec towards Selo to the Selanska Rotunda. Once it was probably a chapel that was part of a larger complex. Today, this Romanesque structure stands alone in the wild landscape of Goričkega. The round church, which may have been built by the Templars, impresses with its wonderful frescoes from the 14th and 15th centuries. Will you return to your main road and continue towards Moravske Toplice for a refreshing dip in the thermal baths, or will you test the narrow roads through the hills? Your next stop must definitely be in Bogojina and the famous church. The locals call their parish church the White Dove. It is rightly considered one of the greatest works of our great architect J. Plečnik. In Bogojina, the decision will be yours again. You can continue towards Filovci and see a potter at work. In that case, also take a trip to Bukovniško Lake and Dobrovnik. In the beautiful natural surroundings of the forests on the edge of Goričkega, we encounter the Hidden Beauty, as the locals named the lake. For as long as anyone can remember, locals have made pilgrimages to the nearby spring of St. Vitus, which is believed to have healing powers. A decade ago, many energy points were discovered, which were marked and now represent a true energy park. In the middle of the plain, in the village of Dobrovnik, a company has sprung up that is very exotic for our conditions. They engage in the cultivation of beautiful orchids using the energy provided by the rich thermal water deposits. Recently, they have also added a tropical garden to the orchids. From there, proceed through Renkovce, Turnišče, and Gomilice to Črenšovce and you will be back on the planned route. If in Bogojina you prefer to stay on the main path, continue through Gančane, Lipovce, Beltince, and Odrance to Črenšovce. In both cases, continue to Srednja Bistrica, where, by crossing the bridge, you will complete the section through Prekmurje. The intersection on the next page features the Ivanov spring, healing energy points, a copper age settlement, the Gibinski waterfall on the Gibinski stream, the largest waterfall in Pomurje, and a blacksmith museum. From there to Ljutomer, the center of Prlekija, known for horse racing, and it is worthwhile to visit the renovated town square. The long route will probably invite you only to conclude in Banovci.
