Between Gartow, Lenzen and Schnackenburg, the beavers are not the only ones making a comeback. The white-tailed eagle also has its hunting grounds here. An ideal viewpoint for wide views of the river landscape is the Höhbeck near Gartow, a geest island preserved from the Ice Age that rises almost 60 m above the Elbe's primeval valley and steeply declines to the north and east. However, the cross-border beaver tour offers not only a variety of fascinating nature experiences. Here, in the tri-border area of Lower Saxony, Brandenburg, and Saxony-Anhalt, the former inner-German border situation is still palpable. At many locations along the tour, this is remembered so that this part of our history does not get forgotten.
