Mit der Bahn von Bad Hersfeld nach Wildeck-Obersuhl und mit dem Rad zur Wartburg

Combined train and bike tour.

Start by train from Bad Hersfeld to the station in Obersuhl. Through the Rhäden nature reserve with its interesting birdwatching hides to Dankmarshausen. From there, follow the Werra cycle path to Hörschel. Then, following the signs for 'Eisenach', cycle up the Hörsel valley to Eisenach.

It is 42 km to the Eisenach station. An additional loop of 8 km leads up to the Wartburg, the symbol of the Free State of Thuringia, with excellent catering. Afterwards, a small tour of the town and finally to the station to start the journey home.

Sven Glückskeks' tour is car-free except for the section between Herleshausen and Wartha (K17) and has hardly any climbs up to the foot of the Wartburg.
