Von Wien nach Hainburg an der Donau

The bike tour starts in Vienna along the Danube riverbank up to the OMV site, where it crosses the area. The path then follows the Hubertus dam through the floodplain of the Donau-Auen National Park. At Schönau, the bike route bends over the Schönauer Traverse. The narrow Schönauer floodplain forest strip is one of the most dynamic areas of the national park. From the outer Schönauer Traverse, one enjoys impressive views of the Kühwörther Wasser with its large reed beds. The route continues again on the Danube bike path along the Hubertus dam. A long straight stretch bordered by large meadows, floodplain forest, and old river arms. At the Andreas Maurer Bridge, the route turns right and crosses over to the other side of the Danube to Hainburg. The bike tour ends at the Hainburg train station, from where the S7 enables return travel to Vienna.
