3-Tälerrunde Lahn/Gelbach/Rupbach

Beautiful Sunday afternoon ride. Lots of forest and nature, relatively little traffic. However, the Gelbbach and Lahntal are often frequented by motorcycles. Almost no heavy traffic.

The starting point is in Fachingen at the chapel, where there are also parking options in case you arrive by car or just take the Lahntal train.

From there you can immediately climb up to 10% to Diezer Höhe, it’s a short but steep ascent, which quickly flattens out afterwards.

The roads are, apart from the section in Rupbachtal, very well paved and excellent for road bikes. In Rupbachtal it gets a bit more tedious, the rough surface and the constant, albeit slight incline take quite a bit of power.

The climb through Ruppbachtal in Wasenbach up to L318 is strenuous and steep. This is also quite bumpy at the beginning, but pleasantly descends towards the end of the loop, allowing you to really let loose.

Another enjoyable descent is from Horhausen to Giershausen into Gelbbachtal.

For those craving more elevation, the climb from Laurenburg up to Scheidt is recommended, then back down to the Lahn to Geilnau, so you can power up again towards Birlenbach in Balduinstein. Here too, you move on very quiet, well-developed roads. The descent to Geilnau features 12% and is very winding.
