The clear highlights of this route across the Ossiacher Tauern are the Ossiach Abbey with the collegiate church and music academy, the Ossiacher Tauern Teich, the horse breeding farm with the legendary Tauernkirchlein chapel (the last remaining filial church of the Ossiach Abbey), the rustic wooden toy maker Jean Luc Lenoble, and a side trip to the tranquil Saissersee.

Route conditions: Starting from the Ossiach tourist information, follow the Ossiacher Süduferstraße towards Alt-Ossiacher (east), turning onto Ossiacher Tauern Straße before reaching the elementary school. The climb up to the Ossiacher Tauern Teich is quite sporting: switchback after switchback, you ascend around 400 vertical meters. After a worthwhile rest, continue along the gravel road east to the horse stud and the Tauernkirchlein on the peaceful high plateau. A gentle descent takes you quickly to the wooden toy maker Jean Luc Lenoble, who has a small showroom where his wooden creations are for sale. The road joins the L47 Ossiacher Tauern Landesstraße, where you make a sharp right toward Köstenberg. After a short climb up to Alpen, you reach the Tauerneck and the hardest part is done. From here, it's smooth asphalt roads to Köstenberg, Unterwurzen, and Oberjeserz. Just before the end, consider a short detour to the peaceful Saissersee (Jeserzer See), before reaching the Velden tourist information via Kranzelhofen. The route is well signposted in both directions and easy to follow! Alternatively, you can ride back to the start via the R1 - Drau Cycle Path and the R2 or R2A - Ossiacher See Cycle Path.
