About This Route

A pleasant ride (18 kms one way) from Bairnsdale along the Mitchell River to Eagle Point and then to the end of the Silt Jetties (longest in the Southern Hemisphere) The main road to Eagle Point is sealed, carries a fair amount of traffic but has a reasonable verge. The last 6 km's to the end of the Silt Jetties is unsealed and can be quite rough

Highlights Along The Route

Point of Interest

Friends of the Gippsland Lakes/ Landcare jplanting of indigenous species. A few years ago these paddocks were bare and used for grazing

A short walk from the carpark to the end of the silt jetties for a view across the lakes.

Point of Interest

Bluff Lookout - short uphill diversion to a great view of the silt jetties, lakes and surrounding country.
