Pinewood-Carter-Terry Lakes Loop

Only a 45 mile ride, but includes the toughest climb on the front range... Pinewood Lake..  Nice warmup to the base on Pole Hill rd, then a gradual climb that works into the meat of Pinewood.  At the top spin around and drop back down and tour around Carter lake (short climb up to the lake) and down to the flats. 

 

Just past Terry Lake on this route, unless you're bucking a north wind, you can fly all the way back to Loveland, particularly fun and fastflat is the stretch leading up to Boedecker Res..

 

Nice 2 and change workout loop with one of Colorado's more challenging (albeit only about 6 miles) climbs..

 

Elevation and grade, being somewhat imprecise with the mapping tool, shows an average grade on the meat of the Pinewood Lake piece to be 7%...  Seems about right, and it is the 3.5 miles from the south turn to Carter to the top..  The climb is pretty even with no big kicks, just a grueling 3.5 mile climb.
