Overview

About this route

1

The first section of the route runs along a forest asphalt road. You will pass very close to the abandoned village of Bystřec. I recommend a visit – the information boards reveal many interesting facts, and some excavated homesteads are arranged so they can be seen.

A little beyond Bystřec, the climb to the village of Bukovinka begins.

From Bukovinka (where there are several refreshment options), continue on the road towards Račice, from which the cycle path sharply turns right during the descent, followed by another climb on a forest asphalt road to the junction "U tří javorů." Here you turn slightly left and continue descending on the asphalt to Olšany. At the edge of the forest by a pond, there is typically an opportunity to purchase refreshments.

In Olšany, on the village green, follow the signs to Bolka Polívky's farm (you can also use the blue hiking trail marks for orientation), where another refreshment opportunity is offered.

From the farm, continue descending on the road through Habrovany (turn left), Nemojany (turn left), then a gentle climb to Račice. The dominant landmark of Račice is the castle visible on the left side on a hill — it can be reached via the park, but the castle itself is closed to the public.

From Račice, continue right on the road until the cycling path with a gravel surface leaves this road and continues along the Rakovecký valley towards Jedovnice.

A little after entering the forest, the paths diverge, and it is possible to continue on either. The path straight ahead runs mainly along the meadow edge, the left-turning path along the forest edge in the shade. Both paths gradually ascend toward Jedovnice.

A little beyond the divergence point (to the left) is a spot that is a popular destination for spring outings because many snowflakes bloom there at that time.

If you chose the route variant on the right side of the valley, when you reach the intersection where shoes hang on a tree in memory of an old murder of a shoemaker’s apprentice, you need to turn left across the stream and cross the meadow to reach the gravel path leading to Jedovnice.

After a while, you will reach the place where the gravel path joins the asphalt you rode on today.

From there, you can continue retracing your route back to Jedovnice or choose an alternative ending to the route by turning right (shortly after the top of the climb) onto a newly paved gravel road leading to the right bank of the Jedovnice ponds.

At the shore of the Olšovec pond, several refreshment options are available.
