Cycling between Detmold and Horn-Bad Meinberg means tracing history and stories. Those who do not want to cycle to the Hermannsdenkmal can take an alternative route (see route description) or on weekends can take the 'Naturparkbus' (tourist line 792), which also transports bikes, to the top. The descent from the Hermannsdenkmal is explicitly recommended only for very confident cyclists with well-equipped bikes (reliable brakes!) due to the tight curves and heavy traffic (buses!).
