Auf den hohen Gallin CLONED FROM ROUTE 286466

A cycling route starting in Moosburg, Carinthia, Austria.

Overview

About this route

Starting from Pörtschach, the route heads towards Moosburg, where right at the first climb after passing under the highway, you turn left into the forest, where the first (small) challenging climbs await the biker. Near Trieblach, we join the (signposted) mountain bike trail, which we leave shortly after St. Martin am Techelsberg and continue on asphalt to Töpriach, where shortly after the climb begins on a forest road up to the high Gallin. Upon reaching the summit cross (1046m), the beautiful view over Lake Wörthersee extending beyond Klagenfurt should be enjoyed. After a refreshment and signing the summit book, the descent is rapid as we continue via St. Bartlmä to Bärndorf. At the golf course, the route descends to Stallhofen, then turns left towards Moosburg, and at the edge of town, right towards Kreggab. We follow the signs to Sallach, ascending again the 'hohen Geißrücken' before leaving the forest. Just before exiting the woods, fresh water is available from the Katharinenquelle spring. Refreshed, we return to the starting point at Pörtschach.
