Vier-Flüsse-Tour ("Schwarzenfelder Variante")

The route is a variation of the Four Rivers Tour organized by the Tourist Working Group of Oberpfälzer Wald. It starts in Schwarzenfeld (intersection Amberger Straße - Hauptstraße) and initially heads east into the Schwarzach valley. From Schwarzach, the route follows the cycle path on the old Nabburg - Schönsee railway line. At Zangenstein, we leave the Schwarzach valley to the north and follow the Murach valley. At the former Niedermurach station, we leave the cycle path and ride on good roads through Niedermurach, Rottendorf, Enzelsberg, Pischdorf, and Trichenricht to Gleiritsch. Between Trichenricht and Gleiritsch, we reach the 'roof' of this tour, and from there it is mostly downhill, except for some short ascents. It only gets steep again in Trausnitz. When the bridge at Kaltenthal is completed, the detour through Trausnitz can be avoided unless you want to visit the castle. At Kaltenthal, the route reaches the Pfreimd valley, which it follows to Pfreimd. From Pfreimd to Schwarzenfeld, the route runs through the Naab valley. Due to some fairly challenging climbs, the route is not recommended for inexperienced riders.
