Ruta Rio de la Mesta

This route starts in the Albacete town of Villapalacios. Once you exit the village heading east, you take an unpaved road, following the course of the Mesta River. The first part of the route, about 3 km, runs between gardens and olive groves, along a slight incline before beginning the ascent to the sierras, always following the river, among olive groves, greenery, and shrubs typical of the sierras. It is not excessively steep. It is advisable to wake up early, so that when the sun is at its zenith, you have already overcome the hardest part of the ascent. The return, following the same route, naturally requires less effort, as it is practically downhill.
