Unique features: ?3 The route passes near several cultural landmarks: the medieval churches in Pe?stana, Densu?, S?2npetru and Ostrov, the reformed church in Pe?stana, the Ha?7egan Village Museum in Pe?stana. From the center of the Sarmizegetusa commune, head towards Ha?eg. After leaving the village, take the first paved road on the left that leads to Breazova. Pass through the village and at the exit, after crossing the bridge over the river, immediately turn left onto a path/dirt road equipped with a gate. Pass through the gate and continue on the clear path that goes through cultivated fields or orchards. Soon you will join a dirt road coming from the right, then a paved road also coming from the right. Always go straight, so in less than half an hour from exiting Breazova you will arrive in Pe?stana. Here you can visit several cultural sites (the reformed church, the medieval church, the Ha?egan Village Museum) or natural sites (the Bottomless Pond, a swamp where you can see one of the few carnivorous plant species of Romania, the dew of the sky). Continue through the village to its center and then forward towards Densu?. Just at the exit of Pe?stana, turn right, cross the bridge, and start climbing the steeper slope ahead. Attention! Road signs are often altered by locals and in some cases may not be reliable. It is best to orient yourself with a map or GPS track. Once in Densu?, make a left at the first intersection, and when you reach the town hall, turn right to go to the medieval church. After visiting, return to the town hall, turn left on the road you came from, and continue straight to Tote?ti. Here turn right onto the national road linking Ha?eg to Sarmizegetusa, and in P?2dcli?a turn left right next to the church. At the first larger intersection turn left again, then follow the paved road that will take you to the dam. Cross the dam and enter S?2npetru. Here you can visit the medieval church, or if you go higher up the Sibi?el Valley you can see the thematic trail of the Dinosaur Valley. From S?npetru continue to Unciuc, and here turn right to cross the canal towards C?2rne?ti. Cross the village on the main street ignoring the paved alleys on the right and left. Turn left at the church and continue to Clopotiva, passing through Ostrov where you can take a small detour from the county road to the especially beautiful medieval church. Right at the entrance of Clopotiva you will intersect a road leading to Valea R?2ului Mare on the left and Sarmizegetusa on the right. Follow the road towards Sarmizegetusa and, after leaving the locality and descending gently on a good stretch of road towards Sarmizegetusa, turn slightly left, over a small bridge, on a slightly grassy dirt road. Continue on this until you reach a point where the road appears to be lost in a stream, but here you must continue straight ahead about 5-10 meters through the shallow water, easily passable on the edge and on stones. After this section turn left on the first road and continue until you reach the archaeological site of Sarmizegetusa Ulpia Traiana. You can choose to visit the ruins of the former Roman capital of Dacia, or continue straight until you reach the national road.
